A Summer View - Hayley Loader

Changing Lives - Yours and Others
(Romans 3 v 22)

Spree 2004 - King's School, Bruton, Somerset.

This summer, young people living in Somerset attended one or many of the Christian camps, which took place in London, Bruton and Shepton Mallet show ground with the Linx Project.

The first camp called 'Spree', aimed at 14 year olds and younger, took place on a weekend in July. Young people from all over England brought their tents and camped in a field at King's School, Bruton. The weekend was action packed; drama workshops, a talent contest, a wide selection of sport programmes and main meetings. The main meetings involved worship and teachings. My role( and two others) for the weekend was to be a steward. To my surprise, it was not all hard work even though it was challenging having the responsibility of the safety of others. I enjoyed serving God and wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

The Linx Group Goes To:

The Big Capital City

The second camp called 'Soul in the City', aimed at 14+ year olds, took place in three tent cites in London. There was approximately 15,000 people who dedicated their week to serve God by carrying out a number of different projects; gardening, painting, setting up different workshops and sports games for the local people to get involved with.

The Team
The transport

The goal of the mission was to demonstrate God's unconditional love by taking it to the streets and evangelizing the truth and acceptance of God (Matthew 28 v 19).

Every day commenced at 10am with a main meeting consisting of worship, teaching and ministry. After the main meeting, we got into our small project groups and travelled to our project location. I, and a few other young people from Wincanton, sanded, painted and cleaned a children's playground in Enfield. During this, I was able to communicate with the local children and their parents, whilst continuing and completing the project. We even set up 5 aside football games with the local people during the week.

Throughout the week, local people who lived near by and people who attended the Methodist Church there helped restore the playground. We ended the week by having a barbeque at the playground., where anyone was invited. This was in aid of celebrating the completion of the project and thanking the people involved in making that happen.

Through coming to London and being involved in that mission, I have learned to evangelize and to not be afraid to give it all I have got, for this is what God wants from his children ( Matthew 5 v 14-16). I have also learned to trust God and even though I feel I can't do something, God can and will give me the strength if I ask for it, for nothing is impossible for God.

Living Loud

16th - 20th August 2004

The last camp, organized by Soul Survivor, took place in Shepton Mallet show ground in August. We spent time in celebration of all that happen in London. The week was made up of many seminars, main meetings, workshops and sport programmes. On the first night, I remember clearly the loud applause as 100 people gave their life to Jesus, their Lord and saviour. I enjoyed praising God,

learning more about him and being restored for the things I have done. The memory that will always remain is watching other people praise God and praying for others; helping them run the race that we are all in with God and to let go of their baggage that stands between them and God. It was truly amazing seeing God work in peoples lives and restoring them, wiping the slate clean.

After attending these Christian camps, my ambition is to convey the word of God to the secular world and demonstrate God's love to my family and friends. God's compassion for every single person is immense. I will never forget the time spent with God and others this summer and neither will God.
