Slum Survivor 2008

YOU DID IT!!!!!

Well done to you all. You managed to survive 2 nights at Slum Survivor. We hope you found the experience worth while and an opportunity to ‘spend a weekend the way a billion spend a lifetime.’

Hopefully you will have seen the Western Gazette for Castle Cary, Bruton & Wincanton on Thursday 30th October (page 5) where there is a lovely picture of you all. If you would like to order re-prints from the newspaper call 01935 700500 ext 605

We now need to start collecting in the sponsorship which you worked so hard for, so that it can be sent to Soul Action who supports projects amongst the world’s poorest people. Could you please forward monies to the office at the address below or give to one of the youth workers within your school. When we have it all in we will send it off and also let you know how much we’ve raised in total!

Thanks again for your support, hard work and all the money that you raised.

Slum Survivor 2007

The Linx Project organised a sponsored event called 'Slum Survivor' at Wincanton Baptist Church on the week-end of 19th-21st October.  The aim of the week-end was to 'Spend a week-end the way a billion spend a lifetime'.  Those that participated spent the week-end in a slum, that they built themselves out of wooden pallets, cardboard and tarpaulins. Participants were limited to very basis food and no luxuries.

Those who participated managed to raise a fantastic £420.77. Well done to all.  The money will be used to support some amazing projects and people who are working in areas of real need throughout the world.

Youth Centre Opening
