Ansford School Steve Baker works in Ansford School in a variety of ways. At lunchtimes he helps to provide activities for pupils. CHYPS! (Church Young People’s Society!) meet on a Tuesday lunchtime in the Swainson building and provides space for pupils to explore the Christian faith and to spend time with other Christians in the school. Free cakes are also provided. On other lunchtimes Steve runs sports clubs in the PE block and a lunchtime drop-in for year 10s and 11s in the Swainson Building. Restorative Justice takes up a large amount of Steve’s time within the school. This is a project that brings together the different parties involved where there has been an incident within school and seeks to make the situation right, rather than simply punishing people. Steve co-ordinates the project and allocates people to facilitate Restorative Justice Conferences. Steve also contributes during lessons, supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis, and taking year 11 PDP lessons. If you want to know more about Linx Project life at Ansford, please email Steve (steve@linxproject.com) or call 07737 283722. King Arthur's Community School, Wincanton The Linx Project provides a youth worker to King
Arthur's Community School, Wincanton, to assist with the daily life
at school during term time. The purpose of Laura being in KACS is to
be a living example of the Christian faith. We are delighted that
Tamra Bradbury and her staff warmly accept us into the school life.
Laura can be found around the school on Tuesday and Thursdays. You can usually find her somewhere near the FLC, wandering around the school at break and lunchtime or ask in the staff room. Alternatively Laura can be emailed on laura@linxproject.com, or her mobile is 07851 150083. As youth workers we understand how important and
at times challenging school life can be. That’s why we are committed
to working within schools, whether that’s helping out in lesson,
mentoring or just being an ear to listen. If you would like to find
out more or chat, please feel free to seek us out. We are always
happy to supports students, parents and teachers in any way we can.
Sexey’s School, Bruton Patrick is the youth worker who works at the beautifully titled Sexey's school. It is a great school in a little town called Bruton. He does a numerous things from running a gardening project to playing stupid games to doing one-to-one work. His job is a cross between that of a chaplain and a youth worker, which seemed strange at first but now we think that the two roles sit nicely together. He gets involved as much as he can with the wider Linx Project activites, especially 'Fresh' on the third Sunday of every month at Cary Methodist Church. That means that you'll still get to meet him if you don’t come to Sexey's. If you do however, hopefully soon he will have an office in which you can come and meet him, or you'll see him out and about in the playground chatting and playing 'squares'. |
